SA:MUG is a volunteer community knowledge base for off-grid LoRa, mesh, and radio-adjacent communications across South Australia and nearby Australian regions.
We started around Meshtastic, and still support it, but the wiki now also covers MeshCore and related mesh-network experiments used by the local community.

Meshtastic is an open-source, off-grid mesh communication platform using LoRa radios. It is useful for low-power text messaging, GPS/location sharing, sensor data, hobby networks, and field experiments without relying on mobile coverage.

MeshCore is a separate LoRa-based messaging and routing system. It is not LoRa-compatible with Meshtastic firmware, but it is another active area of interest for SA:MUG users experimenting with companion nodes, repeaters, room servers, routing, and regional mesh coverage.
