Welcome! This page will help you set up your first Meshtastic node for use with the South Australia: Meshtastic Users Group (SA:MUG) mesh network.
To get started, you'll need:
Meshtastic supports multiple LoRa regions. SA:MUG uses Shortfast on the AU915 band β ideal for dense urban and semi-rural coverage.

ShortFastis a mode which uses a faster data rate for improved responsiveness with reduced range and airtime compared toLongFastwhich is useful in dense meshes.
Use the Meshtastic Web Flasher to install the latest firmware.
AU915 as the frequency bandConnect to the device using the Meshtastic App (Bluetooth or USB) or meshtastic CLI.
Set your region to Australia/New Zealand
Set LoRa Radio Preset to ShortFast
Check LoRa Slot updated to Slot 16
